Unlike the conventional landline phone, mobile Voice over Internet Protocol doesn't use a PSTN or Public Switched Telephone Network. When PSTN is used, the caller and the receiver always remain connected to each other. Instead, VoIP makes use of packet switching. This technique connects the two parties only when the voice packet is being broadcast. In this way packets travel in the most effective path.
